Overview

The goal of the "18-Hole Challenge" is to accumulate the lowest score

relative to par, by selecting a player's best 18 individual hole scores from a

"pool" of up to 76 pre-selected holes of golf played between April and

September of the Mens Club season.

Details

Ten of the 20+ Men's Club play days from April through September will each feature four "Challenge Holes." They will be split between the Meadows and Woodlands golf courses. By the end of September, a total of 76 holes will be featured. Players must play at least 18 of the 76 holes to be eligible to win, but all featured holes played will constitute the "pool" from which a player's best 18 individual hole scores (relative to par) will be selected.

·        Players can be eligible to win by playing just five of the selected play days (five days at four holes per day equals a 20 hole "pool"). However, the more days a player plays, the more chances he has for low scores in his pool. Because the pool has more than 36 holes, it is possible for a player to use two Scores from the same hole played on two different occasions.

All scores will be relative to par (one-over, even, one-under, etc), thus a par on a par-5 is just as good as a par on a par-3 or a par-4. A player's total score will be the amount under or over par he is on the best 18 holes from his pool.

There will be two competitions - one gross and one net. Players can enter either or both competitions. Entry fees will be $10 per competition for the entire season. In the net competition, net scores will be determined by  player's handicap on the day of play.

Ties will be decided by using the 19th (20th, etc) holes from the player's pools. If two players tie, for example thru 20 holes, and player A does not have a (21st )hole to break the tie, and player B has a (21st) hole, player B is the winner. All ties will be broken.

Money will be awarded for the best five scores in both competitions in a 40%, 25%, 20%, 10%, 5% split.

White tees will be used for all Challenge holes. On days when multiple tees are used (e.g. Red, White & Blue Horserace; tournament tees, etc) the pre-selected Challenge holes will be white tees. All Men's Club play days except the following could be used as Challenge Hole days:

·        Match Play events (not all holes "putted out")

·        Scramble events (no individual scores)

·        Events at other courses (Crosswater, Spring-Fling away day)

If a Challenge play day is cancelled before or during play and any Challenge hole not finished by all participants will not be used in the 18 Hole Challenge.

Current to-date results will be posted weekly on the Sunriver Mens Golf website and on the bulletin board at the Woodlands Golf Course. Final results will be announced at the end of the competition in September.

Greg Cotton will be responsible for recording play and reporting results. Question call Greg at 5988461 or cot2on@teleport.com
